Budweiser Budvar, N. C. is commemorating the 120th anniversary of its founding during throughout this year. On the occasion, several limited editions of beer have occurred on the market and the brewery has prepared some cultural events. Tomorrow - on Wednesday 7th October, 120 years will have passed since the historically first brewing master Antonín Holeček brewed the first batch beer - a mere 200 hectolitres, in the brand new brewing house of the then “Czech Joint Stock Brewery in Budweis”.
Budvar’s historically tenth brewing master Adam Brož, Ph.D., MBA brewed a limited edition of the “anniversary lager” on the occasion of the important anniversary. “We want to celebrate the anniversary as best as we can - thus with the anniversary beer which is brewed in the same way as in times of Antonín Holeček. This is a limited edition of light unfiltered yeast lager. Its flavour is complemented by yeasts, which remain in the beer after its maturing due to omitting the filtration. The beer retains its fresh taste, having a higher fullness and more distinct bitterness,” says Adam Brož. The limited edition of the anniversary lager B:ORIGINAL UNFILTERED is going to be available in restaurants only while supplies last. The anniversary lager could be first savoured at the cultural event of the Open Day in Budvar on 12th September 2015. Since then, supplies nave been taking place at hundreds of restaurants throughout the Czech Republic. “Furthermore, on Wednesday 7th October the fans of our beer can commemorate this important anniversary, as the first 120 beers in each restaurant with the anniversary lager will be symbolically offered free to its guests,” adds Adam Brož. The time for commencing the free tapping will be specified by each restaurant owner themselves.
