Budweiser Budvar, N.C. belongs among the most popular tourist destinations in the south of Bohemia, which has been i.a. confirmed by the data published by the National Heritage Institute indicating that Budweiser Budvar, N.C. ranked sixth among the most-visited tourist facilities in the Region of South Bohemia last year.
“47,097 people from 77 countries visited the brewery last year, which is 12% more than in 2013. Most visitors came from Germany, the Czech Republic came second and Austria third,” says Budweiser Budvar’s Gastronomy Department manager Tomáš Olejník. The proportion of guests from the German language area amounted to 41% last year, while Czech tourists participated by 22 percent.
“The visitors particularly appreciate the fact that they can move around directly in the authentic brewing areas of the brewery as opposed to an artificial fun park for tourists. They can see the beer production at close range and observe employees at work,” adds Budweiser Budvar’s Gastronomy Department manager Tomáš Olejník. The brewery tours are led by professionally trained tour guides and available in Czech as well as six other languages. “The most favoured part of the tour for visitors older than 18 is tasting non-pasteurised and non-filtered Budweiser Budvar Lager from the tank in the lager cellar, while children like the bottle filling room with two robots most,” concludes Tomáš Olejník.
Since 2005, Budweiser Budvar’s Visitor Centre has been offering entertainment as well as information during the tours of the brewery premises and provides many other services. The "Budvar Beer Restaurant" operates directly in the premises and besides perfectly treated beer guests can particularly savour gourmet specialities of the Czech cuisine. The offer of services is supplemented by the beer and souvenir shop as well as comprehensively equipped facilities for corporate training or social events. The multimedia exposition “The Tale of Beer from Budweis” will be re-opened after a complete reconstruction this spring.
The brewery is open to visitors every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. upon a previous E-mail or telephone order. In January and February, it is closed to visitors on Sundays and Mondays. Every working day (in the summer as well as at weekends) at 2 p.m. people can take part in a tour even without a previous booking. The tour guides provide their commentaries in Czech or further six world languages (English, German, Russian, French, Italian and Spanish). The tour lasts approximately 60 minutes and is suitable for groups of 5-50 people. The standard price of the tour is CZK 120, but discount can be provided for certain categories of visitors.
