On Tuesday 8th March from 4 pm. the centre of České Budějovice will be home to the traditional pre-Lent carnival parade. This year, all three typical South Bohemian carnival parades come together in the town’s streets – young men parade, straw parade and sword parade. Once being granted the permission to parade through town’s streets by the town mayor at 4 pm., the participants will move to the St. Nicholas deanery to be given a benediction at around 4.30 pm. Then they will parade in the neighbourhood of Přemysl Otakar II. Square.
After finishing the official programme in the town’s streets, a part of the participants – “Doudleby young men carnival parade” will move to the Masné Krámy restaurant. Together with “Šumavanka” brass band they will be playing and singing for the restaurant’s guests between 5 and 6 pm. “The carnival parade participants have been regularly visiting the Masné Krámy restaurant since 2008. Based on previous years’ experience, we have prepared an improvised dance floor in the front part of the restaurant,” says Budweiser Budvar’s gastro department manager Tomáš Olejník.
