"Dark Czechvar has been exported to the US only since 2012. We believe that the medal from this competition will be one of the stimuli initiating a further interest in our dark lager in North America," said Budweiser Budvar’s PR manager, Petr Samec. Since 2012, the “United States Beverage” company (hereinafter referred to as the “USB”) has been the Czechvar brand distributor in the United States. It is a company focused on importing and marketing super-premium and so-called "craft beer" brands in the United States. In 2014, the USB increased the Czechvar brand sales in the US by 19% year on year. Czechvar pale lager in bottles and barrels is currently exported to the US, along with dark lager in bottles and non-returnable KEY-KEG barrels and the seasonal specialty - dark beer with sour cherry B: CHERRY.
The Czechvar brand was created for the market in North America in 2000, as Budweiser Budvar cannot use its traditional trademarks of “Budweiser Budvar”, “Budweiser”, “Budweis” and “Bud” in the territory north of Panama under the trademark agreement of 1939. Therefore the labels of Czechvar beer mention the producer in an abbreviated form as B.B.N.C., consisting of the initial letters of the brewery’s full name (Budweiser Budvar, National Corporation).
