In 2011, Budweiser Budvar, N.C. accomplished a beer sales increase of 5.5% onto a total volume of 1.32 mil hectolitres. This was twice the rate of growth than that achieved by the Czech brewing industry as a whole. Last year the brewery reached the highest export volume in its history with an annual increase of 7.7% strengthening its position as number two in Czech export: its share in Czech export was more than 22%. Furthermore, Budweiser Budvar also increased its domestic sales by 3.4%, having surpassed the growth average of the whole industry in this parameter as well, which amounted to 2.7%. Last year, the sales of the brewery’s flagship product - Budweiser Budvar Premium Lager showed a significant rise of 6.5%. The brewery’s receipts increased by 1.9% onto CZK 1.970 million in 2011.
The evaluation of 2011 economic results has been finalised in recent days as well. “In times of rather economic uncertainty Budweiser Budvar virtually surpassed all planned economic indexes. The brewery’s gross profit showed a year-on-year increase of 9 % onto a total of CZK 239.7 million, while the net profit after tax rose by 9.2 %, reaching CZK 190.3 million,” says Budweiser Budvar’s economic director Petr Žáček. The brewery managed to successfully put up with many negative factors, such as strengthening the Czech currency, transferring the consumer demand in the whole of Europe into the bottled beer segment or growing of the prices of energy, services and materials. 614 employees worked in the brewery last year, which is annually two per cent less.
